Switch off your smartphone and don’t use your laptop or tablet!
Take at least one hour to absorb and understand a location close to Limmat. In this period, sketch and write down the most important features that structure and define the space. Are there zones or different areas clashing with each other? Are there smooth transitions? Which materials are present and dominate which areas? Who participates in the space? Who profits from it and how? Is there movement? Are there non-visual other remote factors that influence the area(s)? Relate present and remote factors with each other.
Some tips: Don’t be superficial! Take your time. Observe deeply. Take detours, embrace leaps of attention and accept repetitions in your observation.
