    Mini Project (individual)

Intro to Digital Fabrication with the laser cutter

    Image: Michael Hansmeyer

What patterns and structures emerge from chemical, biological and mathematical processes? Select an organic form or process from nature, and develop it into a physical 3D surface using waffling and stacking techniquestechniques.

    Materials: 1.5mm Grey Karton

    Tools: Laser cutter

    Software:

    • Tinkercad

    • 123D Make (Waffling and stacking/slicing techniques)

    • Illustrator

    • Processing (Processing and Laser cutting)

    Main Project  (group)

    Image: Nervous System

    Observing

    • Investigate further biological, chemical or mathematical form generation processes

    • Develop a mood board (sketches, photographs, material examples)

    Making

    • Iterate the form generation process with physical models

    • Creating an animated material using the zoetrope

    • Updated mood board to display on project/processes
