Military and Civil Service: Deferral Requests

Students are strongly advised not to miss compulsory modules as these form an essential basis for the following semester. Students are therefore recommended to submit a deferral request (citing the above reason) to the responsible authorities.

The process for submitting requests to defer military service in the DDE has changed: from now on, all students must submit their requests digitally directly via the Army’s website, Deferral of Military Service. This ensures that the request is sent directly to Christine Bürgler, DDE Study Coordinator, who is listed as the contact person in the Army’s PISA system. She is authorised to approve your request.

Please note, that for deferral requests relating to civil defence, please contact Bettina Hannwacker, Administrative Assistant, Head of Secretariat Interaction Design, Office No. 4.C01, bettina.hannwacker@zhdk.ch. She will take the necessary steps in consultation with Christine Bürgler in order to issue an official ZHdK Deferral Request.
